Failed attempt at sophisticated mazes.

Was trying turbulence to a noise pattern. Just looks ugly, not a fun maze to solve....

Back in the saddle... again and again.

It seems that since I've been tinkering with linux, I spent more time with PC tinkering than with artistic computing.

Well, I just switched to SUSE Linux 10,0, and so far am thoroughly thrilled.
And here's the first SUSE linux render (uh, the first one completed-- I hit Ctrl-C when some old files weren't as cool as what I expected).

Bug in Kubuntu 6.04 (Dapper Drake) Flight CD 4 Live CD

Twice I had this happen, with newly, DAO-mode burned CD's, of the above OS:

i) boot up
ii) Open KWifi Manager
iii) Insert ESSID and key into the proper locations of the editor
iv) Find Wireless networks... nothing happens.
v) Dialogue box telling me nothing found won't close.
vi) Have to Terminate the dialogue box, which terminates KWifi.
vii) Now KWifi Manager won't come up properly again.
viii) Now OS will not shut down properly-- gotta power off.

Inflammatory Post.

In college at Virginia Tech, circa 1984, I went to a late-night showing of the movie, Heavy Metal. There was one scene in the movie where a dashing character is being accused of a scoundrel. The accuser lists a bunch of crimes from mundane to geopolitical (I'm going from memory here). Then, after a dramatic pause, the accuser adds "and [hundred or more] cases of rape."

From the audience I was sitting with came a loud, rousing cheer-- not just a few individuals. It was 1984, Virginia Tech. It was probably one of the more evil things I'd witnessed, in that it was all done in a clean, comfortable setting, the cheering on of rape by a roomful of men.

Once in a while I think about that evening. Recently I was imagining that if you were to track those men across the years, half of them would have voted for Bush in 2004. That's my inflammatory statement.

Some characters just not ready for prime time OR radiosity?

The same two characters rendered in povray with radiosity, with the "illumination" coming from a sky_sphere. On the left, the max value in sphere is rgb 3, on the right, rgb 20. The left is too dark-- everyone looks like they have too much tan. When I crank up the lights by using excessive color levels, I point out just how hideously constructed my characters are.

More tinkering to come....
